Many years ago my good friend and illustrator Luan Serfontein tried to convince me that working from far was the best tactic when illustrating. That is… not so zoomed in. I argued that it worked for me. Years on I cannot believe how foolish I have been. I have wasted countless hours on the details while avoiding the more challenging aspect of the bigger picture. Oh how true this is in life as well :) thank you Luan… today I finally realized I have been coming around to your advice… and only today did it finally sink in. And by the way… it’s working awesome for me :)
I love you Tumblr but I feel so guilty when our time together is so short. FB doesn’t mind if I just pop in and Twitter hardly cares…. call me a commitment phobe but I don’t wanna spend the night :(

For my Christmas flight home - the pilots, against regulation, asked me if I wanted to fly in the cockpit all the way. It was the best flight of my life - absolutely AMAZING… and what fun guys - they really changed my flying experience forever. Sharing jokes - talking trash… they were just bummed that the flight attendant missed the ring on my finger :)
Practicing sketching for a beautiful book cover I will be illustrating ( well, the brief is beautiful ). I hope it turns out as magical as the story and possibly as magical as the story behind the story. This is a true love tale and one that really inspired me.
